Timbuktu, Mali
I was really excited to share this piece because some people still think that Timbuktu is a fictional place. Despite its historical significance as Africa's economic hub, Timbuktu grapples with the harsh reality of desertification today. The allure of transforming its satellite image into a painting captivated me, inspiring an exploration of the landscape’s visual qualities. Opting for light textures and colors, I aimed to convey a soft, airy, and dusty ambiance.
