About Olivia

Olivia Serrill is a native Oregonian and oil painter currently based in the New York City area. Her paintings explore place, memory, and landscape through intuitive, textural brushwork. Since 2021, Olivia has used satellite imagery as visual reference for paintings that exist somewhere between documentation and fantasy. Working with color, shape, pattern, and mark-making in a wet-on-wet technique, she aims to capture the character and feeling of a place rather than its exact appearance. Her work serves as an ode to recognizable and obscure locations, allowing historical and cultural associations to transform their literal appearance into something more personal and idealized.

Alongside these works, she also creates intricate "Life Plans"—visual diaries that chronicle daily life over time, capturing experiences and emotions through shapes and color. Olivia's Life Plan series can be viewed here.

Olivia welcomes commissions of any location around the world, as well as commissions of abstract pieces in her signature, intuitive style. If you'd like to schedule a studio visit or inquire about a commissioned painting, please email olivia@oliviaserrillart.com
