Maps

My goal with these "map" paintings is ultimately abstraction in a relatable context. I seek to find and exaggerate the patterns inherent in each landscape and bring them out with a selective color palette and repetitive brushstrokes. In my journey with painting maps I have found that the notoriety of a place is less important than the overall composition or the colors present in satellite images—which I avidly collect and save for future inspiration.
