About Olivia
Olivia Serrill is a Portland, OR-based artist whose work blends abstract and impressionist influences. After studying graphic design at Portland State University, she developed an artistic practice defined by intuitive brushwork and an exploration of abundance as a central theme.
In 2021, she began creating original oil paintings derived from satellite images. Drawing inspiration from her global adventures, Olivia's unique artistic vision transforms familiar landscapes into abstract "maps" that challenge and intrigue viewers. Her approach prioritizes emotional resonance over pinpoint accuracy, resulting in exaggerated and sentimentally rich interpretations of the world's iconic places, using color palettes inspired by each location.
Alongside these works, she also creates intricate "Life Plans"—abstracted visual diaries that chronicle daily life over time, capturing experiences and emotions through shapes and color. Olivia's Life Plan series can be viewed here.
"My perfectionist tendencies drive me to scrutinize
even the smallest details, which is why I push myself
to paint swiftly with bold brushstrokes, seeking clarity
and simplicity through repetitive mark-making."
—Olivia
